Howard Serpas Obituary

SERPAS, HOWARD LOUIS Howard Louis Serpas, a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Sunday night, Nov. 20, 2005. He was 73, born to Amelia Aline Boffone and Wilma Louis Serpas. He was a graduate of Holy Cross Catholic High School in New Orleans, where he was on the wrestling team and became the lightweight wrestling state champion. After serving in the U.S. Army for a few years, he attended LSU, where he was a member of Theta Kappa Phi fraternity. He began his career as a draftsman and then went into valve engineering sales, becoming one of the top salesmen in the field. He worked for Mark Controls Pacific Valve Co. for 15 years and retired in 1995. He was an expert in military history, enjoyed golf and was an avid sportsman. He had a special love for LSU football and even worked part-time as a stadium marshal for several seasons. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irene Pablovich Serpas, and their three children, Glenda Rose Cantrell, Stephen Howard Serpas and Julie Ann Serpas; son-in-law, Timothy Dean Cantrell; and two grandchildren, Catelyn Jessica Cantrell and Christopher Dean Cantrell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his older brother, Wilma Louis Serpas Jr. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary.

Sorry I just found out this evening about Howard. Sorry I was not able to be with you for his services.
