Nan Weigold Obituary

Nan Virginia Weigold, age 91, of Buckeye, AZ died Tuesday, April 29. She was born November 11, 1916 in Plainview, TX to Anthony and Virginia (King) Jones. She moved to the Buckeye area with her family in 1919. She was elected Senior Class President and was chosen Valedictorian for the graduating class of 1934 at Buckeye Union High School. She married Wilbur Weigold on December 20, 1935. Nan graduated from the American School of Banking. She retired after working 27 years for the Valley National Bank of Arizona. She volunteered her skills for community work with the Salvation Army, Buckeye Food Bank, and various charity projects of local civic and social organizations. She was active in the Buckeye Community Church. She is survived by sisters Essie Martin and Joy Beloat of Phoenix; sister in law Mary L. Jones of Mesa; and extended family members Betty Libott of Sherman Oakes, CA and Tony O. Jones of Phoenix; her children Wayne of Surprise, Raymond of Phoenix, and Nancy Johnson of Mission Viejo, CA; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grand children, and 2 great great grandchildren. She had a special bond with an extra-ordinary care giver Janie Alvarez and her team members Juanita and Araceli. There will be a visitation on Sunday Evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Buckeye Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Church of Buckeye located at 810 E. Eason Ave. in Buckeye. Rev. Beverly Ritland Ritland will officiate. Interment will be in the Louis B. Hazelton Mem. Park in Buckeye.
