Sophia Des Jarlais Obituary

Sophia Salome Des Jarlais (nee Jagiello) of Sun City, AZ (formerly of Wrightstown, WI), age 90, passed away on April 28, 2004 at the Sun Grove Village Care Center in Peoria, Arizona. Sophie was born September 16, 1913, at Lena, (Oconto County), Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Starum) Jagiello. She was united in marriage to George A. Des Jarlais on July 9, 1935, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lena. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1991. She and her husband were dairy farmers in Wisconsin for about 28 years, including the last 15, in the Wrightstown area, before they semi-retired and moved to Arizona in 1963. They also had lived in Montana for about one year. Mrs. Des Jarlais was very active in the Red Cross Gray Ladies and Senior Center organizations in Douglas, Ariz., and in the homemaker organizations in the Wrightstown area. She is survived by her son, Larry, of Surprise, AZ; and a daughter-in-law, Rose Mary Des Jarlais, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her companion, Tommy Hotchkiss; one son, Robert Des Jarlais; one daughter, Nancy Des Jarlais; one great-granddaughter; six brothers and five sisters. Friends may call at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, WI, from 8:30 a.m to 10:30 am, on Saturday, May 8, 2004. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a. m., with Father Bob Kabat officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, Wisconsin is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to their website at: www.boettcherfuneralhomes.com
