Arthur William Newlon

NEWLON, CAPT. USN RET. , Arthur William (Bill) Arthur William (Bill) Newlon , Capt. USN Ret., 91, a 13-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Pasadena, CA died on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born June 3, 1919, in Charleston, WV, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1942 as a member of the Class of 1943, then from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a graduate degree in physics. He served as a Naval officer in submarines for 22 years, and managed several key Navy projects in Washington, DC. Following that, he held several significant project management positions in the defense industry, retiring from Aerojet-General Corp. Bill was a member of St. James' Parish in Lothian, MD. He was the beloved husband of Walton Hutchins Newlon; father of Capt. Arthur W. Newlon, Jr. of Norfolk, VA, Lt. Col. Thomas Hutchins Newlon of Poquoson, VA and Walton Miller Newlon of Paso Robles, CA; also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held in the Saint Andrew's Chapel at the United States Naval Academy on Monday, June 21, at 1:30 PM. Interment is private.
