Charles Hague Obituary

HAGUE, JR., Charles Sylvester On Thursday, August 26, 2004, CHARLES SYLVESTER HAGUE, JR., 84, of Chestertown, MD, died at his home. Mr. Hague was born in Easton, MD, the son of the late Charles Sylvester Hague, Sr. and Anna McIvin Hague. Mr. Hague was a 1934 graduate of Chestertown High School, a 1938 graduate of Washington College with a degree in Chemistry and a 1940 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Hague began working as an Electrical Engineer for the Westinghouse Corp. in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1940 and worked for the company for 35 years, retiring in 1975. Mr. Hague married Virginia Nock in June of 1941, and while in Pennsylvania, raised three daughters. Mr. Hague traveled extensively during his time with Westinghouse. While in Pennsylvania, Mr. Hague was active in the Lions Club, served as Chairman for the United Fund, was a member of the Ruffsdale Gun Club, and served as a deacon of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church. He retired to his farm, in Chestertown, MD, in 1978 and became active in the First United Methodist Church where he served as a deacon from 1978 to 1989, and then was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown from 1989 to the present. Mr. Hague was a member of the Chester River Yacht and Country Club, the Kent County Farm Bureau, and the Chester Masonic Lodge, #115. Mr. Hague enjoyed playing bridge, hunting, farming, gardening, and watching the beautiful sunsets from his farm. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Virginia N. Hague; three daughters survive him, Diane Ellen Hague, of Louisville, KY, Merilyn Hague Arms, of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada, and Linda Hague-Crew, of Betterton, MD; and four grandsons, Jonah Hague Arms, Caleb Powell Arms, Christian Hague Crew, and Kyle Melvin Crew. Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, MD. Interment services will be held at 9:30 a.m., at the graveside in the Kennedyville United Methodist Cemetery, Kennedyville, MD. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD.
