Elizabeth J. Welsh Befumo Had a comforting manner and lilting singing voice, 70 Elizabeth J. Welsh Befumo, 70, of Monroe, N.J., passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J. "Jane," as she was lovingly called, was born on March 2, 1948, in Elizabeth, N.J., the daughter of the late John Ferdinand Welsh Sr. and Elizabeth Natalie (nee) Williams. She graduated from Teaneck High School and Bergen Pines School of Practical Nursing. She practiced nursing for 10 years before joining the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked for 38 years. Jane married her husband, John Paul Befumo, in 1980. For years, she lovingly cared for him through his terminal illness until his passing in 1988. Family and friends will remember Jane for her kind and compassionate heart, not only for others but also for all animals. Throughout her life she rescued numerous cats and other creatures. Jane was also blessed with the most beautiful singing voice. Her ability to comfort others along with her devout faith in Our Lord will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Paul Befumo; brother, John F. Welsh Jr., and nephew, John F. Welsh III. Left to grieve her profound loss are her sister, Sharon Buzzard; two nieces, Melissa Bethony (Joseph) and Kathleen Dufresne (Kevin); grand-nieces, Natalie Bethony and Grace Dufresne; grand-nephews, Mason Bethony and John Dufresne; stepson, John Befumo Jr. (Stephanie), and step-daughter, Kelly Greene, She is also survived by step-grandchildren, Joseph, Andelyn, Savannah, Sophia, and Johnny; cousins, Brenda Lewis and Kim Daniels; her devoted friend, Rosilyn Watson, and a host of many dear friends who were like family to her.
