Arletha M. Bird

Arletha M. Bird Battle Creek Arletha M. Bird, 96, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at her daughter's home. She was born October 7, 1914 in Banfield, MI the daughter of Fred T. and Florence (Nay) Stiles. She married Emmet L. Bird on March 17, 1935 in Allegan, MI and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1995. Arletha graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1932. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Michigan Milk Producers Association. She also worked for Stiles and Walker Veterinary Clinic, Banfield Telephone Company and Burgess C. Company. Arletha enjoyed sewing, decorating cakes and reading. She was a member of Banfield United Methodist Church since 1924. She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Phil) Hanson of Athens, Norman Bird of Bedford; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Merieta Munton. Visitation will be held Thursday, 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held Friday, 3:00 p.m. at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Burial will be in Banfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to In House Hospice, 5360 Holiday Terrace, St 24A, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
