Jerry Koon

Jerry W. Koon, 72, of Red Bud, Ill., born Nov. 6, 1941, in Metropolis, Ill., passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Koon worked for Snyder General of Red Bud as a fork truck driver and also worked for the city of Red Bud, Ill. He was a member of the VFW Post 6632, Red Bud, Ill., American Legion post 622 Prairie du Rocher, Ill., and the Red Bud Muskets.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Koon; stepfather, Howard Metcalf; and an infant sister.

Surviving are his wife, Paula, nee Eisenhauer, Koon, whom he married on Dec. 3, 1992, in Chester, Ill.; children, Ric (Angie) Trask of Red Bud, Ill., Scott (Tiffany) Koon of Steeleville, Ill., Mindy Kay Dippold of Missouri, Rhonda (Dallas) Bigham of DuQuoin, Ill., Chris (Mark) Herrmann of Waterloo, Ill., Roger (Marie) Perkey of Tamaroa, Ill., and Heather (Todd) Carns of Pinckneyville, Ill.; his mother, Ruth, nee Larson, Metcalf of Metropolis, Ill.; a sister, Judy (Randy) White of Paducah, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Red Bud Muskets or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014, and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. William Graves officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
