Lawrence Hanson Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Hanson
June 20, 1932 - January 29, 2022
Bothell, Washington - Lawrence "Larry" Hanson, passed away after a brief illness on January 29, 2022. Larry was born on June 20, 1932 in Bellingham, WA and was the only child of Elias and Olina Hanson (nee Borgstrom). After the premature death of his mother, Larry was raised by his father and step-mother, Aslaug Hanson (nee Mickelsen). After moving to Seattle when he was 8 years old, Larry graduated from Ballard High School class of 1950 where he made many lifelong friends. Larry served in the Korean War in Adak Alaska from 1952-1955. After his time in the service he started a career in sales working for Heinz, Sunshine Biscuit Co., Russcraft Greeting Cards and Jockey Menswear. Larry was the last of the great salesmen, packing up his samples and heading out to call on customers throughout the Northwest. He retired from Jockey in 1997 and spent his retirement years golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. Larry had numerous friends across the Northwest, many of who were his customers, and you could not find someone who had a negative thing to say about him. He was a great storyteller, a true gentleman and an all-around good guy. He believed in turning the other cheek and was a strong Christian and lifelong Lutheran. Despite receiving numerous accolades during his sales career, he was most proud of his family. Larry's family brought him infinite pride and joy and he delighted in them. What a legacy he leaves.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha "Marty" Hanson; his children; Mark Hanson (Lorie), Cynthia Hanson (Joe Dowling), Ann Thompson (Scott), John Hanson (Stephanie); his much loved grandchildren; Monika Hanson, Dan Hanson, Bonnie Hanson, Nick Dowling (Karla Ruiz), Eric Dowling, Ryan Harris, Hannah Decker (Tyler), Alix Hanson, Harrison Hanson, Gus Hanson, Sam Hanson and Dollie Hanson; and his very much adored great-grandchildren; Easton and Emmy Hanson. He was pre-deceased by his grandson, Douglas Hanson.
Larry's family would like to thank the Bothell Care Center for taking such good care of him. Memorial gifts can be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, PO Box 34829, Seattle, WA 98124-1829.

Grandpa had a great sense of humor. I loved it when he heard something funny or clever and he´s get a devilish grin on his face and his eyes would twinkle then he´d cup his hands together and rotate them around like a magician performing a magic trick. It was the best.

Life feels a little darker because his light shown so bright. He will be greatly missed.
