Caleb Mitchell Jr. Obituary

Caleb Mitchell Jr., 96, of Haskell-Benton, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, at his home. He was born May 31, 1924, in Haskell.  Horace was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Alcoa as a mobile crane operator. He was a member of the Antioch Christian Church in Tull, The Gideon Foundation and the American Legion in Traskwood.          
Caleb was preceded in death by his parents, Horace C. and Bernice Mitchell; a son, Phillip Mitchell; and five brothers, Frank, Hugh, Foy, Ord and Gordon Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Mitchell; two sons, Gary and Lanny Fite; five daughters, Margaret Alsobrook, Melody St. John, Suzanne Pennington, Debby Steele and Dianne St. Germaine; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Ashby Funeral Home, with funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. 
Burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideon Foundation.
Due to COVID-19 mandates, mask must be worn upon entering the funeral home and social distancing must be acknowledged.
