Its been some few years since youve passed , though the day that Zach found you and I worked on you never leaves my dreams. I wanted to tell you that I love you and I am staying out of trouble. I am married now, you have a beautiful daughter in law and two very smart grandsons who I tell stories to about you and how we first met. Ive realized why you did the things you did and always had my moms back against us boys. I do the same with mine . You not only taught me how to be a real man but you taught me how to be a loving father who knows no boundaries to protect his family. We love you. Your son Joshua

It's been almost a month since we lost you. I know you are in heaven with sissy, Ivan, Mary, Monica, George and my grandparents. We miss you so very much. The house is quiet now. We don't hear your laughter out loud anymore. It is heard only in our hearts and dreams. I feel blessed to have had you in my life all these years and no one will ever replace you. I see you every day when I look in the face of our baby boy. My heart aches for you every day. I am trying to be strong for our children even though I really want to curl up in a ball and retreat from this world that you are no longer in. I love you David and my heart will always belong to you. Rest in peace, my love, until again we meet.

Dave, your going to be highly missed by all who were lucky enough to work with you and who you touched. In all the years I worked with you ,you were that person someone could count on in getting the job done. Even in retirement you came back to the section and without you the task we were presented wouldn't have been accomplished. Your family was your rock and you spoke of them highly . In the 20 plus years I've known you I've always could count on you and your talents. You made my life easier at work. I wish I could have done more but always know if Tammy needs help I will be there . It's the least I could do for all those years we worked along side each other. Your in God's hands now .rest easy and we will all met once again. I will miss that witty smile and that Vulcan salute. God speed ....

To Tammie and Family:
My heart hurt to read about the passing of David. I did not know him well, but I know he sevrved our country, loved to fish, and was a father and role model to two young men, who, before him, didn't have one. and that alone is enough for me to know that he was a great man.
I have not met Zac, but due to the fact of who is parents are, I'm sure is is an amazing young man as well.
Tammie and Boys, I'm so sorry for your loss. I love you all, and you will be in my prayers. I hope to see you soon so I can hug your neck.

David this candle will help you get around in heaven, just in case they don't have electricity up there, and I know they will have a lake or river, so you might can use it to help attract the fish, so grab your pole and catch all the fish you want, then the next time your old pa-in-law is out fishing and catching all the fish and bragging about it, just send down a rain storm and shut him up, he will miss his fishing buddy, but much more he will miss his dear friend. Rest In Peace David and give Pam a hug form all of the family. You both will always be in our hearts.

July 27, 2017

Dearest Sharon and Al, So sorry to hear of your loss. Just yesterday I was thinking I should get in touch and see when you plan to come north / home area and make plans to perhaps connect. This is not the setting I was thinking of. We will be thinking of you, ... and will talk soon about connecting. Love to you both, Rick and Ann Graham

The Final Salute

Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to David Oscar Marshall our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for David. To David it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country while serving in the U.S. Military. David, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 961 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to David's family and loved ones.
