Joe McGuire Obituary

Joe McGuire, 88, of Billings, formerly Bozeman, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Valley Health Care Center.

The son of Albert and Sallie McGuire, Joe was born May 11, 1916, in Belgrade. He was raised and educated in Bozeman. Joe worked as a grocer from age 15. He worked at Ralph's Food Store and managed Joe's Parkway until retiring in 1992.

Joe served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was secretary of Masonic Lodge #6 for many years and belonged to the Gallatin Shrine Club, Sons of the American Revolution, Gallatin County Historical Society, Elks Lodge and had served on the Bozeman School Board for many years.

Joe married Mary Eblen in Bozeman in 1938. She preceded him in death in 1995. He married Dorothy Flageerty in 1996 and they have made their home in Billings at West Park Village since 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Billings; his daughter, Mary Jo Whyte (Glen) of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Casey Jo Whyte Amorello, Shawn McGuire, Holly Jo McGuire, Libby Parker and Katie Parker; and four great-grandchildren, Elisa, Aniyah, Christian and Jayla.

In addition to his wife, Mary Eblen McGuire, Joe was preceded in death by his son, Keith, and daughter Eula Parker.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at West Park Village. Graveside services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Bozeman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital.

Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
