Tolly Pickett Obituary

PICKETT, GEN. TOLLY, of Waverly, AL, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Little Rock, AR. Gen. Pickett served his state and country for over 40 years in the Alabama National Guard including the "Dixie Division." He received numerous awards including the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service medal. Along with his military career, Mr. Pickett was also the Chief of Air Force Logistics Command's Production Management at Robins Air Force Base. The Picketts moved to Waverlyy in 1972. He started Pickett's Rentals in Auburn in 1989 and has owned it ever since. Survivors include his wife, Katherine J. Pickett; brothers, James T. Pickett (Imogene) and Jack A. Pickett (Sylvia); sons, Robert D. Hively (Bonnie) and Charles A. Hively (Tina); granddaughter, Cheryl Hively, Rebecca Hively and Caroline Hively; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Gen. Pickett will be Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Opelika. Graveside ceremony will follow immediately in the Auburn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 14, 2005, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
