Barry is still very much alive and well in my many memories of our work together over the years. Barry was an exceptional lawyer, entrepreneur and friend. He was so warm, accomplished, engaging and jovial that he inspired others to do their very best for him. No goal was too large, no detail too minor to escape his attention. He focused with the same sustained skill and intensity as Audubon displayed in his Birds of America. To only lightly paraphrase Swinburne, "Where the light of his life, Will shine, On the generations that live, Only Death will die."

Dear Diane, Jim and I are so sorry about Barry's passing. His life was taken so quickly and I'm sure you are all still in shock. We are thinking of you and praying that you will find comfort in the close family Barry and you have. We had just met some of your family (and young Simon) the other day and we know their being here recently was so special to you all. My heart is with you and also, dear Norma. Please know that when you come down, we are here and that we care. With Deepest sympathy , esta sanfilippo

Dear Diane, I was blessed to have met Barry here in Eaton. The nicest Republican I've ever met! To lose a husband is to be broken in half. May time bring comfort. His life is an example to many and yours is as well. I honor you both.

Barry was a wonderful man who affected many lives in very positive ways -- as a lawyer, law firm leader, business founder and builder. He was inspiring and challenging with a warm wit and an eagerness to laugh and to share laughter with others. I knew him mainly as a client and he was the best: Smart (really smart), imaginative, outgoing, fearless, willing to listen and discuss, constitutionally immune to criticism from those with no investment in the enterprise. In his son Adam, I can see the results of loving and caring fatherhood. To Adam and his sister and mother, I extend my very deepest sympathies. Barry is gone but will never be forgotten. Our sorrow is deepened by our immense good fortune in being part of his life. Jim Hanks
