Monnie TOBIN Obituary

TOBIN - Monnie Jo Price Was called by God and passed away peacefully in Charlotte, NC on Sunday afternoon, January 5, 2014. Monnie Jo was born in Alexander City, AL to Hoyt and Tigjo Powell Price. She is loved and missed by her sister, Shirley Ann Dovel of Cullman, AL; her four children, Richard M. Tobin (Georgia) of Marysville, OH, Elizabeth Tobin-Powning of Redmond, OR, and Vanessa Tobin and Henry H. Tobin, both of Charlotte; and by two grandchildren, Ricky Tobin of Marysville and Leah Rae Powning of Dayton, NV. Monnie Jo attended Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City and went on to graduate from Auburn University. She was certified to teach elementary education in California, Georgia and New York. She married Lt. Colonel Richard E. Tobin of Buffalo, NY, and as an Army wife, lived in many states, including Washington, California, Hawaii, Texas, Georgia, Massachusetts and New York. After raising her four children and retiring from teaching in the Niagara Falls area, she worked at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. Afterwards, she spent her final years enjoying her retirement living in uptown Charlotte. Her long, happy life will be honored at a 2 PM memorial service, preceded by a visitation time beginning at 12 PM, at the Comer Memorial United Methodist Church on January 29 in Alexander City.
