James Grimes Obituary

James Cornelius Grimes, 87, of Lowland, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Courtyards at Berne Village.
He was a retired carpenter, farmer and inventor, a member of the Goose Creek Primitive Baptist Church, and a Veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Grimes of the home; two sons, James Ed Grimes of Greenville, Kevin Grimes of Ayden; two daughters, Connie Hudson of Williamston, Wanda Rivera of Goldsboro; two stepdaughters, Katherine Golden and Barbara Cayton, both of Grantsboro; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6-7:30 at Bryant Funeral Home
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Milton Lupton and the Rev. Swade Benson officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I got to know James and Mary initially at Grimes reunions (Everetts) and later through Spring Green Church preservation activities. They are delightful people, and all that knew James will feel his loss. I know James was a religious man; have peace knowing he is with God forever more.
