John Steve Nash

1948 - 2016

Mr. John Steve Nash, age 67, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, at Carolinas Medical Center Union. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Lee Park Baptist Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110, officiated by Reverend Chris Justice, Reverend John McGill and Senator Tommy Tucker. Interment will follow at Walters Cemetery, officiated by Mike McGee. Mr. Nash was born on December 6, 1948, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Heath Nash and Gladys Price Nash. He was a retired general contractor with many years of dedicated service, and was involved in local, state and the national homebuilders association. He was a US Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient for his service in Vietnam. Mr. Nash was a dedicated family man, husband and father. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren daily and attending all their sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Emma Sue Cox Nash of Monroe, NC; his son Johnathan Richard "Richie" Nash (Alycia) of Monroe, NC; his daughter Susan Elizabeth "Beth" Nash Kempf (Louis Joseph Kempf, III); his four grandchildren Emma Lynn Nash of Monroe, NC, Jackson Richard Heath Nash of Monroe, NC, Katherine Elizabeth Kempf of Mineral Springs, NC, Louis Joseph Kempf, IV of Mineral Springs, NC; his two sisters Martha Wallace of Monroe, NC and Elizabeth "Lib" Nash Austin of Wesley Chapel, NC; and his brother William Heath Nash, Jr. (Libby) of Monroe NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday, August 4, 2016,at Lee Park Baptist Church, prior to the funeral ceremony.
