Levada Hudspeth Obituary

Levada Hansell Hudspeth, 89, died peacefully December 18 at The Haven in Highland Creek with family by her side.

Born March 1, 1927, in Salisbury, she was the youngest of seven children of the late Robert and Pearl Hansell. She married Darrel Hudspeth of Mooresville, and together they raised their three children and shared a love of travel, gardening, cooking and living on Lake Norman.

Levada especially enjoyed sharing food and laughter with family and friends. She will be remembered for the way she and Darrel warmly welcomed people into their home, and were considered "second parents" to many of their children's friends.

In addition to her parents, Levada is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Darrel Hudspeth; brother, Robert Hansell; sisters, Lois Lett, Evelyn Harviel, Aileen Ritchie, Helen Hansell and Merriem Hansell; niece, Jeanette Watson and grandson, Nicholas Hudspeth.

She is survived by her son, John "Skip" Hudspeth and wife, Nancy, of Huntersville; two daughters, Kim "Rebekah" Pike and husband, Richard, of Matthews, and Lisa Taylor-Galizia and husband, Frank, of Morehead City; six grandchildren, Maya Urbano and husband Omar, Stephanie Massey and husband, Ryan; Jonathan Pike, Katie Pike, and Mark Pike; David Taylor and wife, Tiffany; and five great grandchildren; Caleb, Carson and Linsey Massey, and Julien and Ellyana Urbano; nieces Patty Perry, Marcia Anderson and Jean Agner; great niece, Karen Morriss; great nephew, Tom Watson; and special caregiver, Ashley Fry.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, December 28th at Central Methodist Church in Mooresville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or at https://hpccr.thankyou4caring.org/.
