Orene Bass Obituary
Mrs. Bass, age 90, of Charlotte died February 8, 2010. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont, NC.
Mrs. Bass was born in Gastonia, NC August 12, 1919 daughter of the late Frank and Lucille White. She was a member of Berryhill Baptist Church and had taught kindergarten and loved her church and church family very much. Mrs. Bass was the retired owner of The Little Super Market on Wilkinson Boulevard between the two entrances to Moores Park. She loved God, loved her family and always treated everyone with love and kindness and very dear to all of us. Her sister, Frances was very dear and loving and always willing to help. She and her late sister, Melba Dagenhart were best buddies and loved to shop on weekends. Mrs. Bass loved the Panthers football games.
She was preceded by her husband, Thomas A. Bass and is survived by sons, Michael Bass (Joni) of New Bern, NC and David Bass of Charlotte, grandchildren, Christopher Bass, Graham Bass, Cameron Bass, Adam Bass (Jenna), and Kerry Bass (James Rushing), great grandchildren, Karmen Bass, Alice Bass, Brayden Bass, step-grandchildren, Brian Battersby, Megan Battersby, and Kevin Battersby, sister, Frances Collins of Concord, NC, brother, Donald White, nieces, Cheri Fox (Ed) of Knightdale, NC, Toni Cooke (Bruce) of Charlotte and nephew, Tommy Dagenhart (Henri) of Gastonia, NC and all of their families.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, 2425 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

I was sorry to read that your mother had passed. It sounds as if she had a full and happy life surrounded by loving family and friends. Many years ago our parents were friends and we have pictures of you with your parents taken around 1955. Thoughts and prayers are with you this day.

Mike and David,

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I enjoyed meeting Mrs. Bass at Mike and Joni's wedding and I was lucky enough to spend time talking with her. I know she will be missed but I'm sure she has left a host of wonderful memories that will remain in your hearts forever.
