Timothy Marble Obituary

TIMOTHY DANA MARBLE Timothy Dana (Tim) Marble was a beloved teacher, respected realtor, and lifelong, passionate outdoorsman. He died Monday, October 25 following a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Tim was born September 9, 1939 in San Pedro, California. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1957, and earned a BA in business and MA in Education from Chico State College. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964-70. After college, Tim joined the faculty of Los Molinos High School, where he taught business courses and driver education until he retired from teaching in 1981. He became a real estate broker, eventually joining Re/Max Real Estate in Chico, CA. In 2020 he received the Ken Duvall Lifetime Achievement Award from Sierra North Valley Realtors for his contribution to the field. Tim's deep love of the outdoors was formed in his childhood in Santa Paula, CA. When his father, Dana Marble, enlisted to serve in the Pacific in World War Two, his wife Margaret returned to her childhood home, with Tim and his brother Mike. Born only 18 months apart, Mike and Tim were inseparable during the war and after. They roamed the orchards and barrancas of the family ranches, learning to hunt and fish from the ranch hands, getting skunked and playing frequent practical jokes on their mother. When Dana returned from the war, the family took fishing and camping trips together, often to the Sespe Hot Springs or the Channel Islands. Tim applied the outdoor skills he learned in childhood throughout his life: fresh water fishing during happy hours on the Sacramento River and other locales, and on annual hunting trips for deer, dove, quail, ducks and geese. He was a skilled bow hunter who believed strongly in taking only what could be eaten. A lifelong conservationist, Tim was a member of the Sierra Club and the Altacal Audobon group in Chico. The Feather River Fish Hatchery's salmon ladder was a favored locale for hikes. In 1980 Tim took up another family hobby, following his father and brother in obtaining his pilot's license. He flew for pleasure and visited clients all over northern California as he built his realty business. Also in the 1980s, he took up wind surfing and became an instructor in that sport. Tim is remembered as a generous, thoughtful, and loyal friend who loved to sing and dance. He deployed his vocal gift at many weddings, karaoke events, and - memorably for his classmates - at his 60th high school reunion. He was a lifelong animal lover who lived with many cats, most of whom achieved a ripe old age under his affectionate care. During Tim's illness, he was cared for by his dear friends Bruce and Joan Hart, who were with him at his passing. He is survived by his sister Melinda Marble Cantor, former wife Shari Scott, sisters-in-law Adrienne Ardito and Linda Marble, his nephews Jeff and John Marble, Niece Judy Ann Phelps, and several great nieces and nephews. A celebration of Tim's life will be held in spring of 2022.

Mr. Marble was one of my favorite teachers. He kept trying to get me to take his typing class. I thought it was for sissies. But He finally talked me into it and it was one of the most useful classes I ever took. He always had a smile and was so encouraging. What a great person and a teacher.
Rest in peace my friend

Tim you will be greatly missed dear friend. We made many great memories in all the years you came to hunt. We enjoyed our side trips to Medora, our drives through the Theodore National Park to see the wildlife, our Badlands horseback trail ride, the many years you helped us move our cattle 20 miles home on an ATV. Mostly we will miss your visits. We are grateful you included us in your life and we are honored to have you here in North Dakota so you can continue to hunt in your next life. Have a great hunt my friend. Love Curt ( Curtie) and Michele
