Cincinnati - Ada Marie Jarnagin Walton affectionately known to some as "Bea" was the oldest of four children born to Daniel Marshall and Ada Mae Rice Jarnagin of Warrenton, North Carolina on March 28, 1931. She departed from this life on Oct. 31, 2018 at 7:30am. after having been hospitalized a few weeks. The family moved to Chapel Hill and later Raleigh, North Carolina where she attended and later taught at Washington High School.

After graduating high school Ada attended Talladega College in Alabama where she received her Bachelors in Music Education and later attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Master's in Music Education. She went on to have a distinguished career in music education.

As an accomplished pianist and organist, after moving to Cincinnati, Ohio Ada used her gifts, talent and skills to bless students in the Cincinnati school system as an educator and at United Christian and Carmel Presbyterian Churches where she served as the minister of music for many years. She also provided music lessons in her home, sometimes having as many as fifteen students. She enjoyed accompanying her husband Roman when he performed solos. Prior to retirement Ada taught at EH Green Intermediate school. Alongside music, cooking, family and reading were her passions and joy.

Ada leaves many to cherish her memory. Her husband of fifty-eight years, Roman Walton, as well as her four children, Joy Watkins (Mike) of Atlanta, GA, Vincent Walton (Monica) of Murrieta, CA, Maria Bates (Lorenzo) of Cincinnati, OH and Byron Walton (Shannon) of Cincinnati, OH. Her beloved grandchildren Phillip Andrew, Terrin Lorenzo, Alexander Marhall, Landen Timothy, Matthew Ryan, Lauren Nicole, Abigail Jordan and Allyson Ada. A sister Audrey Chambliss of Marietta, GA and a brother Daniel Marshall Jarnagin Jr. of Raleigh, NC and scores of loving nieces and nephews. Ada was preceeded in death by her sister, Marguerite Jarnagin. Memorial Services were held Monday, November 6 at Kenwood Baptist Church. Arrangements by Thompson Hall and Jordan Funeral Home.
