Earn R. Dixon

COUNCIL GROVE Funeral services for Earn R. Dixon, 95, Council Grove, formerly of Alma, will be held at 1 p.m. today at the RJ Evans-Gentry Funeral Home in Alma. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mr. Dixon died Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Council Grove Health Center. He had been a longtime resident of the area. He was born June 12, 1907, in Yardell, Ark., the son of Bert Andy and Oral Bell Knight Dixon. He was a longtime farmer/stockman, spending over 30 years on his farm south of Alma. He retired in 1992 and moved to Alta Vista. He also had worked in the Oklahoma oil fields. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Alta Vista and enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family. He married Clara LaDema Molleur in 1926 in Cleveland, Okla. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1961. He then married Augusta Grensing Greenstreet on Jan. 14, 1962. She died on Aug. 5, 1990. He also was preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters, and a daughter, Sonya Carol. He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn E. Horton, Topeka, and Irene P. Cott and her husband, Roy, Alta Vista; one son, Charles Dixon and his wife, Monique, Alta Vista; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Dixon will lie in state from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church sent in care of the mortuary.
