Jackson
Walker Thomas Wilbanks, 17, passed away Monday August 25, 2014 at University Medical Center. Visitation will be 5-7:30pm Thursday August 28, 2014 in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday August 29, 2014 in the church Sanctuary. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Walker was a Junior at Jackson Preparatory School, and a member of the football, baseball and track teams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Wilbanks. Survivors include his parents, David and Sheila Wilbanks of Jackson; brother, Landon Wilbanks; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Wilbanks of Jackson; maternal grandparents, Margie and Gerald Jayroe of Byram; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Walker Wilbanks Scholarship Fund, c/o Jackson Preparatory School, 3100 Lakeland Dr., Flowood, MS 39232.

Sheila and family,
My sisters and I have been on vacation and are only now learning of your son's passing. Our hearts are broken for your tremendous loss. The incredible outpouring of love and support from the community is a testament to Walker's life and his impact. Your family is in our every prayer. Please let the Jayroes know the Rube girls love them and are praying for their broken hearts as well. My heart grieves for your family. I recently experienced the death of my son; therefore, I know how you feel. It is our faith in God that's carrying us through. I did not know Walker, but, I watched the game last week, as I have a distant cousin, who plays on the Jackson Prep team.
It is very sad, when a young Christian person, like Walker passes.
Walker's death, has touched many people in many places, as evidenced on news media, and social media.
