SPALDING - Alice DeLancey, 73, of Spalding, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the Friendship Villa in Spalding.
Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding with the Rev. Joe Hannappel and the Rev. Jim Murphy officiating. Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 21, from 4-8 p.m. with rosaries at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the church.
Alice was born Dec. 4, 1933, at Bartlett, to Robert and Mae (Kinney) Carraher. Alice attended Spalding Academy and graduated in 1952. She then taught Country School District #14.
On July 31, 1954, Alice married Gene DeLancey at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. To this union nine children were born: Jean Ann, Robert, Doug, Kate, John, Richard, Dan, Mary and Jim.
Alice remained home to raise her family until 1980 when she began working at the Friendship Villa. She worked there until September 2006. She loved working with the people at the Manor and her smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Alice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Anne's Altar Society. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Alice's main love was her children and grandchildren. She welcomed everyone to her home and had a great smile for all.
Alice is survived by her husband, Gene; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Ann and John Wilcox of Grand Island, Kate and Jerry Molt of Albion, and Mary and Denny Bopp of Spalding; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Bob and Diane DeLancey of Columbus, Doug and Carrie DeLancey of Lincoln, John and Nicole DeLancey of Columbus, Richard of Grand Island, Dan and Shelli DeLancey of Spalding and Jim and Char DeLancey of Phillips; twenty grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Dobson and Kathy Eckland; and two brothers, Marty Carraher and Robert Carraher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sister Rosemary Carraher and Bernadette Costello; and one brother, Thomas Carraher.
Dolce Scheef Mortuary in Spalding were in charge of arrangements.
