JAMES ALTON SUMMERS

Aberdeen - James Alton "Jimmy" Summers, age 78, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at the North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Jimmy was born to Franklin and Pauline Summers on January 31, 1937 in Eads, TN. Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen for 49 years serving as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon for 48 years. He also served on the Farm Bureau Monroe County Board for many years. Jimmy and his wife, Sarah farmed in Monroe County for 49 years. Survivors include: his wife, Sarah Markle Summers of Aberdeen, MS; two daughters, Beth Baker of Amory, MS and Jim Anne Scott (Mitch) of Aberdeen, MS; two granddaughters, Samantha Harris (Ted) of Bartlett, TN and Janna Montgomery (Jeff) of Avaino AFB, Italy; and six great-grandchildren, Luke, Grace, Peter, Ann, Julia, and William. One sister, Jewel Dempsey of Memphis, TN; four brothers, Tommy Summers (Beverly) of Somerville, TN, Paul Summers (Betty) of Byhalia, MS, Raymond Summers (Mary) of Bartlett, TN, and Dale Summers (Denise) of Southaven, MS. Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class and Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Aberdeen. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 8 in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Rev. Paul Matthews, Bro. Roy McKay, and Bro. Dave Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, August 7 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
