John Pyatak, age 90, of Stratford, beloved husband of Shirley E. Mason Pyatak, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in his home. John, a WW II Veteran of the U.S. Army, was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, to the late John and Mary (Homa) Piatak, and has been a life long area resident. He was a retired machinist for the General Electric Company. John was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, and the U-Conn Men's and Women's Basketball Teams. He enjoyed gardening and doing yard work, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. John was a man of few words, but always had a smile. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, include his devoted sons, John E. (Bud) Pyatak and his wife Susan of Vermont, and Daniel Pyatak and his wife Michele of Shelton, 2 cherished grandchildren, Annie Noonan and her husband Richard, and Christopher Pyatak and his wife Samantha, 3 great-grandchildren, Callin and Zoe Noonan, and Emmett Kolber, 4 sisters, MaryAnn Kendall and her husband Richard of Stratford, Margaret Piatak of Trumbull, Agnes Hart and her husband Walter of Trumbull, and Irene Mulligan and her husband Edward of Beacon Falls, and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was pre-ceased by his sister Ann Battagliotti, and brothers Michael, Joseph and George. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 12th at 8:45 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 9:45 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
