Robert Conroy Obituary
Robert Thomas Conroy passed away on All Saint's Day, November 1, 2012, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He recently celebrated his 86th birthday. He was a long-time resident of Branford and Sanibel Island, Florida. Bob was a man of strong character who valued family, friends, and faith as the riches of life. His strong faith supported him throughout life's many challenges. He exemplified the characteristics of a true gentleman. He was respected by all who knew him. Bob was a member of the second graduating class of Fairfield University and a dedicated employee of IBM. He was a member of the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, and sat on the Board of Trustees of both the Blackstone Library and Pine Orchard Union Chapel. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He leaves behind his family of: Tim and Diane Conroy of Annapolis, Kate and Jack Fleming of Northford, Maureen and Brian Nobile of Branford, Michael Conroy and Rose LaFemina of Ft. Lauderdale, Patrick and Diane Conroy of Coral Springs, and Bill and Diane Conroy of Fairfield and his grandchildren Kevin Conroy, Matt and Brent Fleming, Maura Izzo, Jeff and Greg Nobile, Tess Conroy, and Jessie Hancock. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Patrica Laflin Conroy and two sons Christopher and Thomas. Friends may call Sunday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the WS Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 5 at 9:00 am, St. Mary's Church, Branford. A reception will be held at Pine Orchard immediately following. Burial will be private. To the entire Conroy clan, I met Bob through St. Therese Parish some years ago. He impressed me as a humble man of expansive integrity and one who lived his life with high principles and with his family foremost in his devotion. This country needs more men like Bob.

Jack & family, Bob was a true inspiration to me during our IBM careers. Bob was a first class individual with unlimited caring for others, a dedicated and knowledgeable employee and teammate. A joy to work with and with whom to play a little paddle and tennis. A man for all seasons to be sincerely missed by all who came across his path. Go in peace, my friend!
