Thomas Smets Obituary
Service and celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home.
Thomas was born June 23, 1939 in the Hendrickson House in the old sod house in the Swiss Valley north of Broken Bow, the son of Julian Russell and Laura Mae (Wickland) Smets.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Holland of McGregor, Texas; Jacque (Rick) Landis of Scottsbluff; Jana (Tim) Markvicka of Grand Island; and Kelli (Fred) Engleman of Leigh; numerous grandchildren and their families; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ellen; parents; grandson, Baby Jared; and brothers, Herb Smets and James Smets.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
