Doris Freeman Obituary

DORIS FREEMAN
Born: April 22, 1955
Died: November 5, 2022
The world lost a dedicated wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, Doris Freeman, on November 5th, 2022. Doris passed at the age of 67, surrounded by her family, after a long and fierce battle with mesothelioma. Doris was born in Aurora, IL to Albert and Doris Wagner. She married Jerry in 1974 and they went on to have 3 children. Doris dedicated her life to raising her children. After her children were older, she worked as a receptionist for Greater Valley Medicine in St. Charles for many years. She was unable to work the past 2 years due to illness but filled her time making memories. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her family. Doris had the ability to make connections with everyone she crossed paths with. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was the perfect grandma. Her grandchildren's favorite memories were of them cooking and baking together, having sleepovers, where grandma would make homemade hot cocoa and popcorn. They'd watch movies, play gamesand in the morning, she'd make their favorite; biscuits and gravy.
Doris endured more than anyone ever should but she did so with grace and perseverance. When she would find out bad news about her cancer, she would always reassure us by saying, "Hey, it's all good". In her final months, she worried so much about those she would leave behind. We'd like her to know, not to worry mom, it will all be good.
Doris is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jerry; parents Albert Wagner and Doris Heim; daughters Michelle (Roy) Freeman ,Kimberly (Matt) Moncrief; son Michael (Carrie) Freeman; grandchildren Calissa, AJ, Lucas, Aubrey, Jackson and another grandson due in February; brothers Albert (Jean) Wagner, Dale (Cheri) Wagner; sister JoEllen (Phil) Kujawa; several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her step-father, Richard Heim, step-mother Gail Wagner, brother-in-law Barry Quigley Sr, and niece Debbie Haws.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her over the past 2 years, especially the staff at the Kishwaukee Hospital Infusion Center. In our hardest moments, you provided a light amongst the dark.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. The memorial service will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Baltz officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb.
Memorials can be made in memory of Doris Freeman to the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America.

Dear Michelle & family, my very deepest sympathies to all of you. I spent many lunches at work talking with Doris. I loved our conversations. We understood each other. She was an amazing woman who loved her family. I miss her zucchini bread. Doris, may God bless you....you deserve angel wings! She was such a sweet person! May her memories bring all of you much joy, peace & love. Her friend, Mary
