Dear Linda,

I'm so sorry to read of the sickness and your loss of your dad. As you know, he was a one-time colleague, a good friend, and someone who felt like an uncle to me. His warm, caring friendship was special, and not something I was used to. I felt honored that he chose me as a friend. I visited him a number of years ago on one of my trips north and we spent a very pleasant afternoon together. He was in good spirits and we had a nice chat, talking about your mom, you, his and my time together at IBM, and his summer cabin. I could tell he missed your mom very much.

I miss him, and will continue to miss him. I offer you my deepest condolences, and hope that after a while your memories of him will bring nothing but smiles to your face, as they do mine.

With deepest sympathy,
Rob Scharpf

Bill Lanier was Dad's Best Friend. When they were together it was always an enjoyable adventure for our families. They will surely be together once again.

I miss you Mr. Lanier and for the last 6 months it was my pleasure to have been a part of your care. You were a sweetheart, a joker and a bit of a scoundrel all rolled up in one. I know you're better now and may you truly be at peace. I loved you. <3 My prayers to your family Rascal.
