Millicent B. Owen

Millicent B. Owen Ballston LakeMillicent B. Owen, 99, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2014. Born in Ballston Center, NY on September 21, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry and Emma Baker. At age four she and her family moved to Deposit, NY where she grew up. She graduated from Cornell University in 1940 with high honors. About this time she met Charles Owen who was attending Alfred College. After they married and finished college they moved to Peekskill, NY and later to Yorktown Heights, NY. Millicent was a home economics teacher in Arkport, NY and later in Mahopac, NY. In 1948 they settled in Jonesville, NY where Millicent lived for the past 66 years. Together they joined Jonesville United Methodist Church where she was a member for over 50 years. Millicent loved her crafts and enjoyed being a member of the Piecemakers (Quilters) of Clifton Park. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; brother, Calvin Baker and sister, Helen Boswell. Millicent is survived by her children, William Owen of Ballston Lake and Anne King (David) of Greenwich; granddaughters, Margaret Maguire of Greenwich and Kristin Mirocki of Greenwich; great-grandchildren, Tavish, Rosalind and Maxwell. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Jonesville United Methodist, 963 Main Street, Jonesville. Burial will follow in Jonesville Cemetery.
