JON C. WITTENBERG

1938 - 2016

GENEVA - Jon C. Wittenberg, 78, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 9, 1938 in Normal, IL. to Dr. C.E. and Maxine (Foss) Wittenberg. He married Patricia Rahn on January 21, 1961 in Harvey, IL. Jon was employed as a funeral director/ embalmer at Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home in Geneva for over 40 years. He was a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association for over 50 years. Jon had a witty sense of humor, loved his family unconditionally, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play a variety of sports. A longtime Geneva businessman and a respected member of the community, Jon was a former member of the Geneva Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Geneva High School Booster Club( former president), Batavia Moose Lodge, and Boys Club. He was also active in the: Fox Valley Shriners, a 32nd degree Shriner and 50 year member of the Medinah Temple, and the Geneva Masonic Lodge 139 AF&AM (former Past Master). Survivors include his wife of 55 years Pat of Geneva. Three children: Jonalee (Jeff) Cesarone of St. Charles, Jodie (Jeff) Bracken of Geneva, and Brett (J.J.) Wittenberg of DeWitt, MI. Eleven grandchildren: Olivia, Madeline, Isabella, Gabriella, and Dominic Cesarone, Grant, Brian, and Jack Bracken, Brice, Maximo Martinez (Wittenberg), and Brooke Wittenberg. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. His Visitation will be on Saturday, Nov. 19th from 9:00 AM- Noon at the United Methodist Church, 211 Hamilton in Geneva. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM at the Church, with Rev. Rich Darr officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
