Samuel Gerhardt Obituary

Samuel R. "Sam" Gerhardt of Sun City, Huntley The family and friends of Samuel R. "Sam" Gerhardt, 70, will meet at 9 a.m. for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 845 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Rev. Richard Rosinski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Born Oct. 5, 1936, in Chicago, he died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at home. Sam retired from the insurance industry. He was one of the first residents of Sun City, Huntley, and enjoyed living there. He was a good friend and neighbor and will be missed by all. Sam was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors. Survivors include his mother, Catherine; children, Kevin (Rita), Susan (Ken) Chaney, Mary Kay (Matt) Schroeder, William, James (Patti) and Brian; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Adam (Joyce); and sister, Kathleen (Lee) Heidersbach. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel; and sister, Margaret Malca. For information, 847-426-3436.

Sam's six children planned & executed a very touching & memorable farewell to their Dad. Sam was a wonderful person whose family was very important to him. He will be missed.

Uncle Sam was a man who played a roll in our lifes. He had and always will be in our thoughts and prayers. Playing football with the family is one of my fond memories of Uncle Sam. "God Bless" with love, Debbie
