A Celebration Remembering the Life of Ms. Sarah L. Kidd., 77, of Talladega, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Interment will commence immediately following the service at the church. There will be a public viewing for Ms. Kidd on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory-Talladega. The esteemed Ms. Sarah L. Kidd, a pillar of strength and grace within the community of Talladega, Alabama was born on August 8, 1946, to the late Mr. Clinton (Pete) Kidd and Mrs. Fannie Martha Cochran Kidd. Her life was a testament to unwavering faith, dedicated service, and unyielding love. Ms. Kidd's journey began with a profound commitment to her faith, when she confessed Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with the Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church, Talladega, Alabama under the pastorate of the late Rev. A.C. Smith. A scholar and educator, she pursued academic excellence, graduating with honors and dedicating twenty-seven years of her life to shaping young minds within Talladega County. Her tenure was marked by a deep dedication to her students and a commitment to excellence that left an indelible mark on all those she touched. She graduated from Talladega County Training School as Salutatorian of her class, the Class of 1964. Upon graduation she enrolled at Talladega College and Alabama A&M University. Ms. Kidd graduated with honors and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Additional studies were completed at The University of Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama and Alabama A&M University. Ms. Kidd was employed by the Talladega County Board of Education in 1970. Within the sanctuary of Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church, Ms. Kidd's presence was felt in every corner, as she tirelessly served in numerous capacities over the years. Ms. Kidd, while serving faithfully at Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church, served diligently as 1st Sunbeam Board Supervisor from 1971-1987, 1st Counselor Crusader Chapter 1987-1989, Church Clerk 1974-2000, member of Young Adult Usher Board, Secretary of Missionary Society 1998-2018, Secretary of Sunday School, President of Matrons Ministry 1991-1995, Primary Class Sunday School Teacher, Church Announce 1960-1974, Chairperson of Program Committee for 25 years, Chairperson Annual Missionary day Program for 30 years, Coordinator Annual Family Day Program for 36 years from 1984-2020, Member Young Adult Choir, Coordinator Special Occasions-Pastors and First Lady. Ms. Kidd was previously affiliated with Rushing Springs District Congress of Christian Education Recording Secretary from 1985-2010, Secretary to Dean L.S. Moss, Dean Bobby L. Harris, and Dean Mary C. Williams. Sis. Sarah Kidd lived an exemplary Life full of dedicated service. Her leadership and steadfast commitment to her faith were undeniable. Her legacy of service and compassion will forever resonate within the hallowed halls of her cherished church. On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, while under the care of St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, as the heavens opened their gates, Ms. Sarah Kidd answered the divine call, entering into eternal rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father. God saw Ms. Sarah Kidd was getting tired and said come on home my child and take your rest. The Lord placed a clarion call to harken his angel and heard his servants cry "slow down your chariots at the Jordan River and do not pass her by. She has done the work of my plans and need her to take rest, for I know you loved her, but I loved her best." Ms. Kidd rejoined the hands of those who preceded her in death including her parents Mr. Clinton Kidd and Mrs. Fannie Kidd, three brothers, Willie James Kidd, Edward Kidd, and Walter Clinton Kidd, and sister, Fannie Mae McKenzie Gooden. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to forever be cherished by her loving and caring special daughter, LaKoshia Denise McKenzie; two special sons, Adrian Tyrone "Shayla" Gooden and Timothy Glenn Gooden; granddaughters, Kaseptyana (Sidney) Cuerenton and Adrianna Makayla Gooden; grandsons, Kaden J. McKenzie and Arron Elijah Gooden; great-great granddaughter, Harmony Cuerenton; Godsister, Betty Pugh; two sisters-in-law, Fannie Hall Kidd and Margie Kidd; special friend, Brenda Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. As we prepare to bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us remember Ms. Sarah L. Kidd's enduring spirit, her unwavering faith, and the profound impact she made on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may have left this earthly realm, her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, her memory a beacon of hope and love for all time.
