Lillian Ricketts Obituary

Lillian Carter Ricketts, 102, of West Chester, wife of the late Thomas Ricketts, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Pocopson Home. Born Sept. 21, 1911 in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Hutchinson Carter. She grew up in Centerville, Eastern Shore Maryland where she graduated from high school and later moved to Pennsylvania in her late 20s. She loved to bake, crochet and knit. She worked as a cake decorator for Quaker Bakers and as an assembly line worker at Wyeth Laboratories. She also grew African violets and roses. However, her most enjoyment in life was her baking. Lillian was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in West Chester, where she was the oldest living member. In her active years, she was a deacon, worked on the kitchen committee and was part of the Women's Association of the church. She was a charter member of Les Amis Federated Club where she was active in raising money for scholarships. Surviving to cherish loving memories is her daughter, Gail R. Williams of Springfield. In addition to her husband, her daughter, Barbara Y. Ricketts, preceded her in death. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9th, at Second Presbyterian Church, 114 S. Walnut Street, West Chester. Viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment is at Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester.
