We still remember on this third anniversary of his passing. We camped with Gil & Margaret many times at music festivals. Enjoyed hearing about Gils travels to other countries. Enjoyed visiting with both of them.

Dad,
Through this year you have been that whisper in my ear when I think of you, the smile when I say hello every morning and the hope you are safe and at rest

A husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A man deeply devoted to his God and his Country. A man who; once becoming your friend; remained one for a lifetime. A man I will always call Pop.
Always in my thoughts
Your son, Stephen

To the friends and family of Gilbert Sylvia. I worked with Gilbert Sylvia at the Newport News Sheriff's Office in the early 1990's. Of course, I only knew him a Captain Sylvia. He was a kind and caring individual back then and I'm sure that never changed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Hi Margaret,
I am the one who had to give Gilbert a slug to the arm every Saturday night at Mass. I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed kidding with him and I did miss you two when I left St. Joe’s.
I will remember you in my prayers as you journey through your grief. Take care,
Sylvia Snow

Margaret and family, Trudy and I extend our deepest sympathy on learning of the death of my fellow K of C Brother "the Sheriff". I enjoyed his dry humor and passionate love of country shared in discussions at Knight's meeting conversations. Margaret, we missed so much seeing you and Gilbert during 5:00 pm Mass at St. Joseph since we have moved to Kill Devil Hills, NC. God Bless you and the family.

So sorry to hear of Gil's passing as he was our over the fence neighbor for over forty five years. He and I would always talk out by the fence and I really enjoyed the talks and will miss them greatly. Gil was as good a neighbor as you could ask for and will be missed.
