Anna Catherine Gilkey Owen Anna Catherine Gilkey Owen, 100, of Charlottesville, Virginia, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and Louisville, Kentucky, died on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born on June 8, 1913, in Taylorsville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of John Albin Gilkey and Clara Evelyn Lindle. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Stanley Hume Owen; son, William Edwin Owen; son-in-law, Roger A. Grady; and her six siblings. Anna Catherine spent her early years growing up on a farm in Taylorsville, Kentucky, where she spent many happy days climbing fruit trees and attended a little one-room schoolhouse. Her family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, when she was in eighth grade. After completing a secretarial course at the age of 16, she went to work for a local law firm. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Stanley Owen. She loved her role as wife and mother. In 2000, she and Stanley moved to Toledo, Ohio, to be near family. She lost Stanley in 2003. She moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2012, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, where she happily spent the remainder of her days. Survived by children, Margaret Kathleen "Tif" Reynolds and Al of Charlottesville, Viginia, Mary Jeannine "Jeannie" Dery and Serge of Toledo, Ohio, Thomas Stanley "Tom" Owen and Donna of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Linda Dianne Grady of Kokomo, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Lucille Owen of Rochester, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to the caring staff of Martha Jefferson Hospital. There will be a Funeral Mass at the Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive, Charlottesville, at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Visitation will be held in the Daily Mass Chapel at Incarnation one hour prior to Mass. The Reverend Edwin Montanez will be the celebrant. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Pregnancy Centers of Central Virginia, 1420 Greenbrier Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901; Heartbeat of Toledo, 4041 W.
