Ronald Gareis

1939 - 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Gareis on the morning of Monday, August 22, 2022, just a few days short of his 83rd birthday. Ron was a member of the NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) for over 60 years. Ron served in many positions in the JRD (James River Division, the local division of the NMRA) and until recently was a regular attendee at JRD meetings. In addition, Ron was the organizer of the "Friday Lunch Group" in Charlottesville. Ron was a retired engineer from GE who had served as an advisor to Broadway Limited (a model railroad locomotive manufacturer) earlier in the company's history. Previously, Ron had been a member of the Monticello Model Railroad Club in Charlottesville, and held regular open house work sessions in which the fellowship was a key component.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Church of the Incarnation with reception to follow.
