Thomas Wayne Obituary

Donald "Donnie" Wayne Thomas Sr.Donald "Donnie" Wayne Thomas, Sr. of Kents Store, Virginia died peacefully on January 24, 2016. Donnie, also known to his family and friends as "Doc", was born on Febuary 3, 1950 in Charlottesville, Virginia.  His parents were Lindsey Benjamin Thomas and Bernice Herring Thomas.  He was preceded in death by brother, Lindsey Benjamin Thomas, Jr. Donnie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen Clements Thomas; oldest son, Donald Wayne Thomas Jr. and his wife, Linda Winne Thomas; youngest son, Charles Lindsey Thomas and his girlfriend, RoseMarie Angel Hovey; granddaughter, Destiney Nikkole Thomas; grandsons, Kristian Allen Thomas, and Carson Wayne Thomas; brother, Robert Lee Thomas; sister, Patricia Anne Robertson; sister-in-law, Jennifer Hunt Morris; and brothers-in-law, Clifford Willard Hunt, David Wayne Hunt, and Francis Calvin Hunt.Donnie worked at Iron Craters and retired from piedmont Metal Fabricators. "Doc" was a lifelong outdoorsman and a car enthusiast.  He loved to spend time fishing on the rivers around Virginia.  He served as assistant Scout Master for Fluvanna Boy Scout troop 54 and enjoyed camping and teaching the boys about the outdoors.  Donnie was also a member of the Central Virginia Volkswagen Club.  He loved to spend time with club members at meetings and car shows. A memorial service will be held at Lyles Baptist Church in Fluvanna on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 1 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont.
