Frances Scerbo Obituary

(Daily Record)

FRANCES MARIE
SCERBO
BOONTON
Frances Marie Scerbo, a lifelong resident of Boonton, died Thursday, December 24, 2010 at the JDT Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln Park. Frances graduated from Boonton High School in 1948. She was employed by Boonton Radio as a secretary, and then married Frank Scerbo in 1952. A honeymoon that lasted nearly 55 years followed: one filled with the love of four children, the company of dear friends and relatives, and travels to many of the world's most exotic places. But Frances was fondest of simple pleasures. She was a wonderful cook who could orchestrate a multi-course meal for a dozen people with ease, though comfort foods and pizza were her specialties. And she loved to test her Scrabble, mahjong and crossword puzzle skills with family and friends, stopping only recently due to illness. And daily long walks through her neighborhood placed her in contact with so many she knew and with the beautiful town she adored. She was generous and grateful for the full life she lived.
This wonderful person is survived by her four children: Nina, Bill, Alan and Karen; four children-in-law: Neil, Amy, Kathryn and Ed; six grandchildren: Desirae, Eve, Chelsea, Darcie, Olivia and Sophia and her brother, Edward Sikora. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank and parents, Bernice and Frank Sikora.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 28th at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Boonton, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Boonton. Friends may call on Monday, December 27th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Mackey Funeral Home (mackeyfh.com) 107 Essex Ave., Boonton. Memorial contributions in Frances' name may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 910 Birch St., Boonton, NJ 07005.

Pete and I miss talking to my cousin Fran on the phone and visiting her when we go east. She had such a fun spirit and it was so contagious.

To the Scerbo family,
I will miss your mother, my cousin, very much. I loved our long distance telephone conversations and our visits with each other. Fran could make me laugh like no other person. She was fun, intelligent and caring. I am so sorry she is no longer here but I know she is glad to be with Frank and with her Lord. I pray that God will give us peace and ease the sorrow in our hearts.
