Adeline Eyer, 87, of Battle Creek and formerly of Charter Oak, died Friday, May 12, at Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.
Adeline Marie Eyer was born March 3,1919, the daughter of William and Alma Suhr Hingst. She died Friday, May 12, 2006 at the Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek, Iowa at the age if eighty-seven.
Adeline was born in Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ, March 30, 1919 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, Charter Oak and later confirmed on April 9, 1933 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bridgeman, Michigan.
She was united in marriage April 10, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church, Charter Oak to Gerald Eyer. After many years of farming in the Charter Oak and Anthon, Iowa communities, the couple retired and moved to Portsmouth, Iowa. After the death of her husband in 1983, Adeline moved back to Charter Oak to be close to her family and friends. In the year 2000, several years after the death of her sister, Adeline moved to the Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.
In her leisure time, Adeline enjoyed gardening, sewing and making crafts. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; three sisters, Esther Eyer, Martha Strait and Marion Walters. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Fundermann of Battle Creek; Carol Fundermann and her husband, Frank of Red Oak; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Walters of Worthington, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Eyer of Sloan; Marie Kunau of Maquoketa, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Laverne Strait of Charter Oak; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Richard Merrill officiated the services and grave side rites held at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Art Beeck provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational hymns, Chief of Sinners, Though I Be, I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus and Jesus, Lead Thou On. Those serving as pallbearers were Randy Fundermann, Tom Fundermann, Tim Fundermann, Jeff Ramnes, Frank Fundermann Jr., James Fundermann, and Jason Schiernbeck. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of the arrangements.
