Too many words I have lost...some insightful, some funny and some too full of love to be described by words. I will love many more but only one more than he. The lord brought me through these dark days but I can't help but think that my dad was elbowing him in the ribs along the way. He taught me good things and led bad examples, put his hand on my shoulder to make pains disappear. He cried by his lonwsome for the lost father and son times but rejoiced knowing that " life is good" for his ol packrat. I love you every moment and still have tailgate time to fill the void left in my heart. I hope you see just how blessed mg life and little family are...I have fixed most of my issues and continue to grow into your shoes.

For my good friend Roger Miller, he was more than a friend to me he was a Brother, a Mentor and true American hero. I met Roger in Detroit in 1988, Roger and I later taught at the INS Academy and then we served in Miami at MIA. In 1998, I moved to Washington State where I retired from CBP. Roger and I kept in touch however; it was not as often as it should have been. I considered Roger to be as close as a brother and my best friend. Roger was a man that had a kind word for everyone and was always willing to give anyone a chance to prove themselves or just be themselves. Roger was a loving father, friend and a highly respected leader, he had a great influence over all the people he met and there is not a day that goes by that I don't use those common sense principles that he taught me as a young officer and later with him as he taught me to lead by example, with a kind word and by just being myself. Roger had some very funny sayings and to this day they ring in my memory and I use them with great pride because I know where they came from, a funny, kind and loving friend Roger Miller. Roger was bigger than life to me and my family; he was there with encouragement and wise advice for my son Nick as he went off to Iraq and Afghanistan. Roger gave Nick his compass that he used in Viet Nam, I don't know if it was just a gift or it meant something deeper, Roger never said, but I think it meant that with the compass Nick could always find his way and Roger was like that, always helping those of us that knew him find our way. I will miss my friend and my brother. As Roger, would say “Life is Good”. Rest in Peace my good friend my brother
