I waited the head table at Al Cervi's week long basketball camp held on the grounds of Camp Eagle Cove. Al and the other senior staff made my "job" too much fun with endless stories and sports trivia question challenges - Billy Hackett was almost as good as Al on those questions - and I enjoyed and learned watching their clinics. I think about him often, especially his stories about toughening up Dolph Schayes!

Kathy,
My sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Dad. Although I have not lived in the Rochester area for many years, my family is still there and told about your loss when I was "home" for Thanksgiving. I am very sorry to hear the sad news.
When I think of you I remember not only BHS adventures but also getting together in the Fourth Lake area when your Dad had the basketball camp there and my family was across the Lake.
Sincerely,
Cherie(Heier) McGuire

To the Cervi family;
Thank you so much for sharing Mr. Cervi with me and thousands of other "campers", the memories of Camp Eagle Cove and Hobart are some of the greatest times of our lives. Coach taught us many of life's lessons, especially family, committment, and most of all intensity. He had a passion for sports that he instilled in us all. He'll have God working harder soon. Bless you all. Mickey Record

To all Cervi's
What a joy and pleasure to have known Al since 1954. A wonderful family man and husband. True to himself and to everyone he asociated with over the years. A wonderful sense of humor and compassion for people. His competitive nature was summed up in Goerge Mikan's book which he was quoted "I would rather beat Cervi than eat."
Thanks for the cherised memories Al. And all the best to all you Cervi's who adored him.

Mrs. Cervi,

I remember all the times that you and Mr. Cervi would come to our home to visit and the times we came to your house. We always felt special whenever we saw you and Mr. Cervi. He would tease us and make us laugh.

I was just thinking about Mr. Cervi yesterday before I heard the news of his passing. Please know so many people have wonderful memories of both of you together and please accept my deepest sympathy to you, your children, and grandchildren.

To All the Cervis,

We were so sorry to learn of Al's death. Just thinking of him brings back some great memories of when the boys went to Al Cervi Camp (and didn't shower all week!). We always enjoyed the time we spent with him. Miss you all!

Growing up in Syracuse, I went to all the Nats games and Al was my favorite.
Imagine how proud I was to be inducted into the Walk Of Fame with my boyhood hero! And what a great sense of humor he had.

Ruthie,
You and Al were always so special to our family. I have so many wonderful memories. Thanks to both of you for always welcoming us into your home and life. As Sherrie mentioned, thinking about Al puts a big smile on my face. I also hope he, June, Woody and Lori are catching up on old times.

All my love and blessings.

A few years ago I met the coach. There are so many wonderful stories of our freindship. My Mother was in her 90s, she was so excited that I had met Al. She asked me to tell him that she and my Father went to all the Nationals Sunday games. They sat under the basket and cheered for Al. I told him and he replied with a twinkle in his eye "tell her I heard both of them".
She was delighted. God Bless.

Ruthie,

My heart is heavy for you and the family. Thinking about the "good old days" with Al puts a smile on my face. I'm sure June and Woody are welcoming him Home!

With heartfelt prayers!

Sherrie
