Jack Cameron Obituary

Jack C. Cameron FORT WORTH--Jack C. Cameron, "Poppo" or "Popso" to his grandkids, passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church, 5011 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Greenwood Chapel. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Open Arms Health Clinic of Arlington, www.OpenArmsHealthClinic.org. Jack was born in Fort Worth on Sept. 12, 1923, to Sid and Gussie Cameron. After graduating from Paschal High School in 1941, he enrolled in North Texas Agricultural College (now known as UTA). In June of 1943, he was called to active duty. After basic training, he was assigned to the 413th Infantry Regiment, a part of the 104th Infantry Division. His regiment sailed for France and was the first of the American troops to land at Cherbourg after the D-Day Invasion. The 413th fought in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. After the war, he returned home and enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated in 1947 with BBA in Accounting. He joined the accounting firm of McCammon, Morris, Pickens and Mayhew, which later merged with the national firm of Arthur Young. He passed the CPA exam and became a partner in the firm. While working there, he met the love of his life, Frances Ann Bursey. They were married on Sept. 23, 1951. Jack and Frances loved to dance and were members of three dance clubs. They particularly enjoyed an evening of dining and dancing at Ridglea Country Club. Jack was an avid golfer and could be found on the course several times a week. They both shared a love of the mountains and traveled to New Mexico and Colorado whenever they could. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances; sister, Margaret Cameron; brother, Lyle Cameron; and several much adored Wire Hair Fox Terriers. SURVIVORS: Children, Frances Martin and husband, Alan, Craig Cameron and wife, Gloria, Pamela Keffer and husband, John; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jack and Frances were an ideal couple and role model for so many of us. Their mutual love was radiant. Their children are exemplars of love and empathy. My condolences with love, Tommy.

I didn't realize he had so much in common with my Dad. Loved reading about his life. I know he was a wonderful husband and father and a blessing to all he met. Praying for comfort for the entire family during this time.
