James Patton Obituary

Patton, James
James J. Patton, age 73, of New Albany, OH and Jupiter, FL, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Jim was born in Columbus, OH on November 6, 1944 to the late Earl and Bernadine Patton. He was a graduate of Ohio University and obtained his Master of Business at Central Michigan University. Jim began his career as an accountant and auditor. With his innate sense of business and his entrepreneurial spirit Jim founded his own company, Patton Wallcoverings, Inc. in 1974. Jim grew this business and turned it into an international wallcovering distribution and manufacturing company. Through Jim's dedication and hard work he became a highly respected international leader in the wallcovering industry. Jim was a gregarious, loving, generous man with an unwavering will. He lived life to the fullest. Jim never failed to say what was on his mind and he kept all of us on our toes. He was smart, witty, ornery, to the point, passionate and full of life. He was strong in his convictions and equally strong in his determination to help others. He shared his knowledge, his time and resources to help anyone in need. Although Jim loved working, his real passion was being on the water. An avid boater, he enjoyed spending his free time being behind the wheel of a boat and he relished the adventures that would bring. And wine…. Jim loved wine. If you have met Jim it is certain that you have not forgotten him. He will be dearly missed by many. Jim is survived by his wife, Mariann; daughter, Jean; sister, Sue Litzinger; brother, Bill (Dena); brother-in-law, John (Tonja) Romine; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; special cousins, Mary Jo (Bob) Mayhan and Becky (Rich) Mihans; many special friends and business colleagues and his dog, Jake. Friends may call at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 East Broad St., Columbus, OH on Friday, November 2 from 4-7:30pm. Prayer services begin at 7:30. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, November 3 at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at St Joseph Cemetery, 6440 South High St., Lockbourne, OH. Jim Patton was a friend of mine. He gave me the opportunity to support my children, help them earn their college degree's and live a very nice life. He taught me about money, how to make it, how to spend it and how to be a success in business. Everything I know today is because Jim Patton choose to share his business knowledge. I will always remember the wisdom and pride he instilled me. RIP Jim Patton
