William Clark Obituary

William Harold Clark
July 18, 1936 - September 12, 2019
Resident of Pleasanton
William "Bill" Clark was born in Philadelphia, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Yvonne, son Marty Clark, daughter Carol McCormick, granddaughter Aundrea Clark and many loved extended family members. Bill proudly served his country in the Marine Corps and later worked for 30 years as a Peace Officer in both the Oakland Police Department and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. In his retirement he enjoyed cruising, watching sports, going to the gym and telling old police stories at the OPD Thursday Club. Bill was a kind and generous man and will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. A celebration of life will be held at the Pleasanton Senior Center 5353 Sunol Blvd on Saturday October 12th at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Retired Oakland Police Officers Association, P.O. Box 824, Oakland, CA. 94604-0824.

Bill Clark was and exceptional man as well as an excellent police officer and commander. I worked with him many times during our careers and considered him a good friend. He will be missed.

Greatly missed.

His death is still ringing inside me.

Bill was my partner on my last day as an Oakland cop, May 17, 1973. We ate lunch at our desks because the grey sky was unsettling (I really didn't want to go out and have a fender-bender then face the paperwork).

But duty (and Bill) called me. Injuries I receive that day I know were a gift from God. They have drastically reframed and restructured my life, and my lasting struggles have led to a great awakening in my family and a refocusing of myself.

I have no idea what my Lord in Heaven has planned for me, but I will walk into that future whatever it might be, because people like my Partner Bill Clark are there making it a better place if that's even possible. Hold a seat for me Bill! And bring the Lidocaine or whatever you people up there apply to physical pains.

May God bless our Bill!
