ESPERANZA ALDERETE Obituary

ALDERETE ESPERANZA ALDERETE (lovingly known as Chapa) died Thursday, April 12, 2012, in the comfort of her beautiful custom-built home and in the presence of family, friends, caregivers and Hospice medics. A native and life-long El Paso resident, she was born in 1921 to Manuel and Luz Paz Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by siblings Enrique, Emma, Evita and Maria Louisa. A sister, Ester Rodriguez, of Seattle, WA, survives her. Esperanza graduated from the Father Yermo Academy. She worked as a Federal Government employee for the US Army Logistics Corp, Ft Bliss, until she was to meet her best friend and husband, Francisco Alderete Jr. During the 70s and 80s, she worked for her husband's company, F. Alderete Construction, as a bookkeeper and office manager. An ardent believer in life-long continuous learning, she completed 97-college credit hours at UTEP over a 25-year period. However, by far her most difficult - yet rewarding endeavor - was her unwavering dedication and devotion to home and family. Esperanza's passions were life, faith, charity and family. She was always active with the Assumption Catholic Church or the St Patrick's Cathedral Alter Society. She was a frequent contributor to MaryKnoll and Franciscan Missionary causes and campaigns. In her later years, she highly cherished attending Mass at the Roger Bacon Seminary. She was an extraordinarily caring, loving and generous lady. Esperanza lived a long and interesting life - but that knowledge does not help to diminish the sadness inflicted by her departure. Esperanza is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco, a marriage that spanned 62 years. She will be reunited with him, in eternal rest, at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Left behind are Esperanza's children; daughters Patricia C. Flores (Edward) of El Paso and Anna M. Alderete of El Paso; sons Francisco M. Alderete of Dallas and Dr. Edward C. Alderete (Kathy) of Nipomo, CA. Also left behind to revere her love and companionship are many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Roger Bacon Seminary, 2400 Marr, El Paso, TX, 79903, or to the charity of your choice. The family extends their special gratitude to the extensive and loving 24/7 care provided by Esperanza's caregivers; Ninfa Bautista, Reyna Flores Baena and Sandra Wilson, and to the wonderful services provided by the entire Hospice of El Paso Team Visitation will be at Harding Orr McDaniel, 320 Montana St @ Kansas from 5:00pm till 9:00pm Monday, April 16th with a rosary @ 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick's Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa at 12:00 noon April 17th. Pall bearers will be Frank Alderete, Dr. Edward Alderete, Anthony Martinez, Kathy Kaufmann-Alderete, Dave Sheraton, Albert Rivas, Edward Flores, Jr. and Edward F. Flores. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Reception for family and friends will be Mrs. Alderete's home. www.FunerariaDelAngelHarding.com

Patsy, I am sorry that you will miss your mom now that she has been called home. I truly enjoyed working for your mom back in the day at the construction company. I always had great respect, love and admiration for her. She was truly a kind, caring and generous person with great Christian values. She loved the Lord, she enjoyed life, family, travel and all the great little things in life. She really had a sweet and unique sense of humor and a light hearted spirit. Everything she said and did was always positive, she was incapable of causing harm. I will always be happy and grateful to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I learned that just a moment ago, God came to you with his cross by asking you for the most painful of sacrifices, and I ask that He Himself will be your strength, your support, your Divine Consoler! In the face of such trials, God alone can speak, for He is the supreme Consoler.
The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,and no torment shall touch them.They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead;and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction.

But they are in peace.

For if to others, indeed, they seem punished,

yet is their hope full of immortality;

Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed,

because God tried them

and found them worthy of himself.

As gold in the furnace, he proved them,

and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself.

In the time of their judgment they shall shine

and dart about as sparks through stubble (Wisdom 3: 1-7)
