Roy Harris Obituary

Roy Harris, born on January 2, 1937, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025. A native of Atlanta, he spent his early years in the Grant Park area and later made his home in Stone Mountain and Suwanee, Georgia.

Roy pursued his education at Roosevelt High School, Southwest DeKalb High School, Georgia State University, and Georgia Tech. He dedicated over three decades of his professional life to Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia, where he led the Information Services Department for many years.

Roy had a wide range of interests that enriched his life. He was a member of the Southern Bicycle League and held a deep appreciation for classical music. A devoted dog lover, he found great joy in their companionship throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gloria Moody Harris of Omega, Georgia. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Terry Harris (Theresa), Eileen Syfert (Gary), and Kim Barnett (Glenn); his grandchildren: Katie Ash (Will), Elizabeth Montgomery (Thomas), Emily Harris, and Andrew Harris; and his great-grandchildren: Bennett Ash, Madeline Ash, and Scarlett Montgomery. Roy is also survived by his siblings Norma "Sister" Moore, Jackie Plunk, and Jerri Lynn Inverso.

A private memorial service will be held on February 9th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of Forsyth County or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).

Roy's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
