John "Jack" Miller

John ‘Jack’ Miller John ‘Jack’ Miller, age 80, of Fairview, died unexpectedly Friday, October 2, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center. Born in Erie on June 21, 1929 he was the son of the late Ted and Gladys Andrews Miller. Jack was self-employed and owned South Erie Beer, the French Street Dairy Store and a tavern. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and was a former member of East Erie Turners, the Maennerchor Club and the Erie Yacht Club. Jack loved sports especially the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Browns. He also loved his animals. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Miller and a grandson, Thomas John Miller. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean A Umpleby Miller, of Fairview, a son Grant E. Miller and his wife May, of Fairview. He is further survived by a grandson, Grant ‘GT’ Miller of Fairview and a granddaughter, Jamie Miller, of Erie. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Avenue on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Donald Baxter officiating.
