Dear family of Joe:

I extend my deepest sympathies to all in the loss of your beloved Joe. I had "Mr. DiGiorgio" as my 3rd grade teacher at Jones School many many years ago and have never forgotten him. He made you want to learn and made it fun. He also never let us misbehave in class. We loved him. I remember listening to his wonderful voice on the radio for years. He made a difference in so many lives. I am sure that the good Lord opened his arms when he took him home and said "Well done my faithful son."

We will miss his goodness here in this life. I too mourn the loss of my beloved father just 5 months ago.

God Bless You and Keep you in his Care.

Sincerely

Jan Jablonski Larson

To Mrs. DiGiorgio & family -

We have been parishoners of OLP for the last 8 years, and have treasured hearing Joe speak as a lector. My children always listened well when he spoke, and we were saddened to learn of his passing. As a couple, you were a wonderful example of all that love and marriage can become over the years. Our sympathy to you and know that you are all in our prayers.

I wish to send my condolences to the family of Joe DiGiorgio. I first met Joe over 25 years ago when he owned Human Resource Services. Joe was full of life and ambitions. I had the pleasure to work with Joe recently over the past several years while he was working with Career Concepts. Even after all of these years, Joe held that power to make you feel good about yourself after talking with him. Joe was well respected and well liked in both his personal and professional life. I will remember Joe with fond memories.

Dr. Anthony DiGiorgio (Tony)

I always listened to your brother, Joe, on Sunday evenings when I lived in Erie, and lately when in Erie visiting my daughter. I always had Joe's radio show on while traveling down I-79 back to Sharon/Hermitage, until the signal ran out. I will miss that familiar voice. You all have my deepest sympathies.

I only met Joe once but he impacted my life greatly. He introduced me to Jazz 46 years ago when I was only 13 years old. I followed Joe as closely as I could wherever we lived. When living in Wisconsin my brother would tape his programs each Sunday night and mail them to me. With the advent to the internet and streaming audio I listened to his program almost every Sunday. I feel as if I have lost a close friend, one who introduced me to a life long love of American music. I will miss his voice and will morn his loss deeply.

To the DiGiorgio Family,

Joe was a great counselor in his years at Career Concepts. He helped me a great deal in deciding what to do with my future, and with what company. He was very compassionate when things were difficult for me, professionally. I am very glad that I had the honor of knowing Joe. He will be missed, but he is in good hands now. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Years ago Joe helped Stairways with an "Evening of Jazz" in support of our Center for Arts and Culture. He was a gem to work with. Two years ago I was a guest fundraiser on WQLN with him and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We have appreciated his support of our work here at Stairways and will miss our community treasure, Joe.

Joe was unselfish, caring, and pleasant. In the classroom and on the radio,he significantly influenced and enriched the life of our community. He gave his(many) talents, and shared interests(also many) with the Erie community for decades. I've recently been hearing his name mentioned on WQLN,and thought how re-assuring it was to still have guys like him around.I thought about contacting him but thought there would be time for that. Now I can't and I regret it.He was an interesting man,a loyal friend to my father, and me.

To the Family of Joseph DiGiorgio: The way I knew Joe was listening to him on WQLN. His love of jazz helped me fall in love with jazz...because of the way he would talk about the musicians as if they were his personal friends...and he made me feel as is they were my personal friends...what a gift he was to me and so many others! It is with great sadness that he is no longer with you and all of us...May all the jazz players up in heaven welcome him home! A faithful listener...

For the family and friends left behind by Joe,

We all know the story of the Good Samaritan, but rarely hear it from the point of view of the man laying on the side of the road. I was that man. Betrayal, job loss, friends who are near when your wallet is filled, but gone as fast as the job, divorce, lawyers to take what is left. These things put you on the side of the road; alone.

Then along came Joe. He lifted me up....not in a cubicle at Career Concepts, but in his personal office with the doors shut saying simply: "Tell me your story, Dan". He listened to it all and on repeated visits, the receptionist would call my name on the phone and Joe would come running from the back head offices to the front lobby, put an arm around my shoulder and escort me back to talk; to learn of progress. While everyone else pretended, Joe was the Good Samaritan who picked me up and went the extra mile.....for no reason except that was the type of person he was. It will be remembered.
